Ward 5 is bounded on the east by the following line: Commencing at the intersection of W Third with College Av; thence southeasterly along Third to Eagle; then southeasterly along Eagle to the Mississippi River. It is bounded on the south by the Mississippi River, on the north by the Seventh ward, and on the west by a line commencing at the southwest corner of the Seventh ward and running south to the Mississippi River.

Referencing the City Directory's description for Ward 5, the boundary of Ward 5 can be described as follows: Commencing at the Mississippi River and Eagle, go southwest along the Mississippi River to Hamline Av extended to the river, then north on Hamline Av extended and Hamline Av to St. Clair, then east on St. Clair to Pleasant Av, then northeast on Pleasant Avenue to Western Av S, then north on Western Av South to Irvine Av, then northeast on Irvine Av and Irvine Av extended to West 3d, then southeast on West 3d to Eagle, then south on Eagle to the point of beginning.
