Next Sunday Begins the Pennant Contests for Interstate Flag.
Next Sunday, Sept. 30, will begin the series for the pennant in the Interstate Baseball League. Stillwater and New Richmond will be the contenders. New Richmond, by defeating Ellsworth at a game Thursday at the fair decided the contest for the last half of the season. Owing to this victory, it was not necessary for Stillwater to play Ellsworth as it had no bearing on the result, and the game was called off.
Accordingly a team from the twin cities, called the All Stars was engaged to furnish amusement for the fans Sunday and it surely did it. It was a red hot exciting game, and Stillwater won out 7 to 6. It was one of those "roasting" games in which the Stillwater fans took out their ill feeling on the umpire, who happened to be Mr. Hansch, the fairest and squarest umps on the circuit, the visiting team coming in for a full hand of roasting too. Keinholtz was working in poor shape and went right straight up in the air in the 6th. St. Paul ran in 6 scores that inning, and Kienie was so much up in the air that he was hauled out and sent to the bench before the inning was over. Bemis took his place on the mound and Lehrer went back to his position at first. Bemus did very well and stopped further scores.
Stillwater got back four scores in their half of the 6th, and got another one in the seventh, so that the final score was 7 to 6 in the local's favor.
But it was a red hot interesting game, and if Stillwater can do anywhere as well next Sunday the first game of the pennant series will be ours.
