Colored Line at the "U".

The mandolin club at the University of Minnesota has drawn the color line. The club held its annual tryouts last week. A colored man, a member of the freshman class, contested for a place. One of the judges, a prominent member of the club, said that he was one of the best mandolinists at the university. But the club members decided it was a social organization, and said "No" to the colored boy.
